2023 Peking University (School Headquarters) Enrollment Guide for Undergraduate Entrance Examination for Foreign Students

The entrance examination is an important way to recruit undergraduate students from Peking University. It aims to attract more high-quality international students to study at Peking University, and then cultivate innovative leading talents with Peking University's heritage, Chinese feelings and international vision for the world.

The study period for undergraduates of foreign students at Peking University is 4-6 years. After completing the content of the training plan, those who defend their graduation thesis can obtain a graduation certificate. Those who meet the requirements for a bachelor's degree shall be awarded a bachelor's degree.

I. Application Qualification

1. Applicants are required in principle to be between the age of 18 and 25 years old (calculated from September 1, 2005), physical and mental health, high school graduation or above, excellent character and study, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, non-Chinese citizens with foreign valid passports, friendly to China, no illegal. Criminal record.

2. According to the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China and the relevant provisions of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China [Education Foreign Letter [2020] No. 12], both or one of the parents are Chinese citizens and have settled in a foreign country. If they have foreign nationality at birth, they do not have Chinese nationality. As applicants for foreign students, they must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate before April 30, 2019, and have a record of actually living in a foreign country for more than 2 years from April 30, 2019 to April 30, 2023 (actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be One-year calculation, subject to the entry and exit signatures).

3. According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, residents of mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate before April 30, 2019 for applicants as foreign students after immigrating and obtaining foreign nationality. II. Application materials

1. Application form for undergraduate students of Peking University (download and print after online registration), the application form must be affixed with a 2-inch color bareheaded certificate photo on a white background;

2. Full-time high school graduation documents (fresh graduates can provide the expected graduation certificate first) must be original or notarized, both in Chinese and English;

3. All courses and transcripts of high school or above must be original or notarized, both in Chinese and English;

4. The original personal statement can be written in both Chinese and English;

5. A copy of the passport information page, the passport must be an ordinary passport within the validity period;

6. The birth certificate and the nationality certificate of both parents at the time of birth of the applicant, including the certificate of permanent residence abroad that has been obtained;

7. Award certificate and related supporting materials (if any);

8. Application commitment for undergraduates of foreign students from Peking University (click to download the commitment template). The PDF version of the commitment must be clearly and completely filled in and signed by myself. Applications without a commitment will not be accepted;

9. Applicants must upload their self-introduction in the online application system.

III. Application method

1. Apply online. Applicants log in to the Peking University International Student Online Application System (website http://www.studyatpku.com), select "degree students", enter "examination admission undergraduates", fill in the application information and upload relevant materials. The online application system is open from 00:00 on January 1, 2023 to 23:59 on March 5, 2023 (the above are Beijing time), subject to the applicant's first submission of information.

2. Pay the application fee. After submitting the online application, the application fee must be paid. In principle, the preliminary examination results can be inquired within 1-10 working days after submitting the application and paying the application fee, and the application form can only be printed after the preliminary examination is passed. Those who fail to pay the application fee will not be reviewed.

3. Mail the paper version of the application materials. The paper version of the application materials is only accepted by mail and cannot be submitted on the spot. Mailing time: March 1 to 10, 2023. The mailing time is subject to the postmark time sent by the local post office. In order to ensure that the materials are delivered on time, it is recommended to use China Post EMS or SF Express for domestic mailing. The application materials will not be returned. If the application materials are incomplete, the application will not be accepted.

4. The first test. After the paper version of the materials is approved, the applicant can participate in the preliminary examination. Preliminary subjects: Chinese, English, Mathematics. The initial test time is in early April 2023. The specific time and arrangement are shown in the preliminary test notice.

5. Re-examination. Those who pass the preliminary examination can participate in the re-examination. Please refer to the re-examination notice for the specific time and arrangement.

6. Admission. Those who pass the preliminary examination and the re-examination will be admitted by the school. The preliminary test list, re-examination list and admission results can be inquired through the online application system. After admission, the school will still review the applicant's information and materials. If there is any violation or fraud, the admission qualification will be cancelled as soon as it is verified.

7. Enrollment. From June to July 2023, the school will issue admission materials. In September 2023, students enrolled in the school with the admission notice and other relevant materials. The specific time and arrangement shall be subject to the registration notice.

V. Related expenses

1. Application fee. 800 yuan, pay online when submitting the online application. The application fee will not be refunded after payment.

2. Tuition fee. Science and engineering: 30,000 yuan/year; humanities and social sciences: 26,000 yuan/year.

Tuition fees only accept RMB cash, UnionPay card payment and online payment, cash in other currencies, traveler's checks and other payment methods are not accepted.

VI. Scholarships for Foreign Students

Students can apply for the "Peking University Scholarship for Foreign Students" and "Beijing Scholarship for Foreign Students" before enrollment. The Peking University Scholarship for Foreign Students includes tuition fees, living expenses and medical insurance premiums. The award-winning students must participate in the annual evaluation; the Beijing Scholarship for Foreign Students provides full or partial tuition fees, and the funding period is one year. VII. Medical insurance

Students must buy the "Comprehensive Medical Insurance for International Students in China" from insurance companies in China. If you do not purchase medical insurance as required, the school will not register.

VIII. Accommodation

Students need to arrange their own accommodation during their study abroad, except for Chinese government scholarship students.

Those who live outside the school must go through the accommodation registration procedures at the local public security organ within 24 hours after check-in.

IX. Visa

Students must go to Chinese embassies and consulates abroad to apply for an X1 visa with the Admission Notice and the Application Form for Study Visa in China (Form JW201/202). Within 30 days after entering China, the X1 visa must be converted into a study residence permit.
