1. China Border Inspection
China's border inspection is divided into Chinese citizens' channels, foreign citizens' channels and other channels. International students should be passed by foreign citizens' channels. Before entering the country, you need to fill in the Alien Entry Application Form (usually issued by the carrier on the plane or at the airport counter), and give oral sex and inspection personnel at the customs. Inspectors may ask about the purpose of the trip, contact person in China, address and other information. They should prepare a response in advance and carry paper support materials with them. After entering the country, you are not allowed to stay at the border checkpoint. You should pick up your luggage as soon as possible and cooperate with the security personnel to carry out a security inspection of your luggage. For China's border inspection ports, please refer to: https://www.nia.gov.cn/n741435/n907688/n1234186/n1248056/index.html
2. Arrive at school
After entering the country, you can usually choose a variety of travel methods such as taxi/metro/bus. You may also need to take an intercity train or a connecting flight to the destination city. Please consult the school for details. If you need to take transportation by yourself, please refer to "Transportation".
3. Stay for the night
International students usually live in on-campus student apartments or rent houses off-campus. Please note that students who do not check in within the school's time may need to arrange accommodation by themselves. For details, please contact the school for confirmation. If you need to arrange accommodation by yourself, please refer to "Accommodation".
4. Freshman registration
After the freshmen arrive in China, they should go to the admission institution in time to complete a series of admission procedures such as registration. For specific time, place, required materials, etc., please refer to the Admission Notice of each school. Usually, the following materials are required to complete the registration:
• Original and photocopy of my valid passport and visa (X1 or X2)
• Original and photocopy of the admission notice
• Original Application Form for Visa for Foreign Students in China (JW201 or 202)
• My passport size photo • Registration fee, tuition fee, medical insurance fee, accommodation fee, etc. related fees to be paid at the time of check-in
• Original Foreigner Physical Examination Record and Blood Test Report (students who have studied in China for more than 6 months must provide it)
* Please prepare and submit specific materials according to the requirements of the admission school.
Usually, the school registration work includes the following:
1) Accommodation: go through the accommodation procedures and stay in the dormitory;
2) Payment: pay tuition fees, registration fees and other related fees;
3) Purchase medical insurance: show a valid passport, admission notice, and pay medical insurance fees;
4) Student registration: fill in the relevant forms and complete the student registration;
5) Physical examination: The school will arrange a health and physical examination for students;
6) Visa interview: The school arranges visa interview for students who apply for study residence permits for the first time;
7) Apply for a residence permit: After obtaining the results of the physical examination and passing the visa, you need to apply for a residence permit.
* The registration process of each school may be different. Please consult the school for details.
5. Open a bank account and mobile payment
After international students arrive in China, the colleges and universities will generally provide guidelines for applying for bank cards. To apply for a bank account in China, you must bring your passport and other valid identity documents to the bank counter and fill in the account opening application. After applying for a bank card, if you use mobile payment, you can download Alipay or WeChat client in Huawei App Market, App Store or Android App Market. After downloading, open it, register and log in, enter the personal payment or bank card page to add the bank card and submit the binding. After the above operation is completed, if you make a purchase, you can scan the code to make mobile payment.
6. Physical examination
According to the relevant laws and regulations of the Chinese government, students entering with X1 visas must undergo a health examination. Students can conduct a physical examination in their own country before coming to China, submit the original "Foreigner Medical Examination Record" in Chinese or English at the time of registration, and then go to the health care center of the local Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau for re-examination. If you submit a health certificate that does not meet the norms and requirements, or does not have a physical examination before coming to China, you must conduct a new health examination at the health care center of the local inspection and quarantine bureau. The health center will issue you the Alien Medical Examination Record Verification Certificate, which is necessary to apply for a residence permit in China. During the physical examination, you may need to bring the following materials:
• My passport • Medical examination materials before coming to China
• 2-inch bareheaded certificate photo (which can also be reissued at the physical examination site)
• A copy of the admission notice or a supporting document issued by the school.
Usually, the school will uniformly arrange the physical examination. If you miss the collective physical examination time, you need to go to the local immigration inspection and quarantine bureau to complete this procedure. The X1 visa must apply for a residence permit within 30 days from the date of entry, so the physical examination needs to be completed as soon as possible after entry. International students entering with X2 visas do not need a medical examination.
7. Medical insurance
According to the relevant national regulations, international students who have studied in China for more than six months must buy medical insurance in China, and the school will provide students with relevant advice and services for insurance purchase. Please refer to: http://en.lxbx.net/
8. Apply for a residence permit for foreigners
A residence permit for aliens of the People's Republic of China is a residence permit issued to foreigners who have resided in the People's Republic of China for more than one year. International students entering with X1 visas must be converted into residence permits within 30 days from the date of entry. This certificate should be applied to the entry and exit management agency of the public security organ in the place of residence. For details, please refer to the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of the Entry and Exit of Aliens and the relevant provisions of the local immigration administration. When applying for a residence permit, you must submit a qualified Alien Medical Examination Record Verification Certificate issued by the local health and quarantine department. Therefore, please complete the health examination as soon as possible after entry and bring the certification materials to the local immigration authority. Since the police station needs to submit the original passport when applying for a residence permit, some businesses that need to hold passports, such as bank card opening, mobile phone/network opening, etc., may be affected by this. Please arrange relevant matters in advance.
*If students are unable to attend the school's regulations
When you arrive at the school at the registration time, you should contact the relevant management teacher of the school in advance to inquire about the way to register by yourself.
